HEK293-KCa on QPatch

Performing automated patch clamp experiments with different intracellular solutions is somehow difficult. Using QPatch with its multi well reservoir is it possible to test eight different solutions on the same cell line. In this study the multi well reservoir has been used for experiments on the voltage-dependent large conductance Ca2+-activated K+ channels, often referred to as BK channels. A human embryonic kidney cell line (HEK293) expressing the BK channel was used.
BK channels are large conductance calcium and voltage gated potassium channels, which allow potassium fluxwhen activated with intra cellular calcium and/or membrane potential (Strøbæk et al., 1996).
